Swanley Jobs Fare

Date:            Friday 17th October 2014

Venue:         Swanley Town Council, Kent

From 16-64 the local community came together to find out what opportunities Swanley has to offer!

Mayor of Swanley Town Council, Councillor Ray Morris, opened the event and was thrilled to announce the imminent arrival of Michael Fallon MP. He then joined the general public as they toured the room in search of jobs, apprenticeships and training opportunities.

The Acorn Hub set up a booth at the event which invited attendees to take a seat and talk about things that motivate them. It was about finding out what people in the local community are looking for so that we could then link them to opportunities in their community that suit them.

Many of the people we spoke to were unaware of the opportunities around them and really valued sitting down for a few minutes to discuss their options with people who were just happy to listen.

The challenge now is to find those businesses out there who can help - the community knows what it wants and is willing to show you the skills that you are looking for, can your business help?

Since our new webiste launch!

"You are never too young to lead. You are never too young to do what it is you actually believe in. We keep saying that the future belongs to  the young; it only belongs to you if you take it. From what I have seen,

you young people are going to change the world; and you have to be that change that you want to see."

- Kofi Annan, Former Secretary General of The United Nations
