International Women's Day is a global day celebrating the social, economic, cultural and political achievements of women. The UN Global Goals For Sustainable Development apply to women in education, business and society on the whole.
How will you mark the day?
- Celebrate the social, economic, cultural and political achievement of women. Events will be taking place around the world today in celebration of International Women's Day, including Toronto, London, Aberdeen, Gibraltor, Nottingham, Derby, Hong Kong, Melbourne and Ontario, to name a few.
- Reinforce and accelerate gender parity; progress has slowed in many places across the world, so continued action is needed. Leaders across the world are already pledging to take action as champions of gender parity.
- If we are to achieve the Global Goals by 2030 we must start by empowering girls and women. Goals that work for women and girls are goals that will work for the world. So switch onto the Global Goals and take action!
