Dementia: Who's innovating?
About a month ago we wrote a blog about raising awareness of Dementia that was designed to encourage people within Swanley community to think about it a little more and maybe even get involved in supporting local families facing the illness.
Whilst the 'Big Push' in raising that awareness and support network is still very much underway, there is a lot more work to be done. Which is why it was so pleasing for us hear innovation charity Nesta talking about the issue this week.
Nesta's mission is to help people and organisations bring great ideas to life and stated in a recent blog,
"As we are living longer, often with multiple long-term conditions, there is a need now more than ever for innovations to help people live out these extra years in the best way possible."
In this blog Nesta put forward a few examples of the work that is already being done to support families and individuals effected by Dementia.
"There is lots of great work being done to support people with dementia and their carers at a local and national level, through a variety of activities from community groups and technology to animal interaction and specialised holidays."
